This photo was taken approximately 1/2 mile back toward Ridgway from the Scenic Overlook at Dallas Divide west of Ridgway, Colorado on Highway 62. Note that the scenic overlook is one of the most photographed places in Colorado.  On this evening there were at least a dozen photographers present, both amateur and professional.  The zigzag fence that is often seen in these images, especially those taken from the overlook is on the Double RL ranch which belongs to Ralph Lauren.  Photographers should note that the ranch  is private property.  To avoid being chased off by the ranch manager or the local  sheriff, you are advised to stay on the highway side of the fence which is public right of way!  This is another reason to use your telephoto lens.
