technical information on creating this photo

This image was captured on October 9, 2007 using a Canon EOS 5D with a Canon 100-400mm L series lens.  The focal length was at 115mm.  The captures were at 1 and 1.6s  at f/16.  The telephoto lens helped foreshorten the image causing the mountains to look even closer than they are to this stand of Aspen.  A circular polarizer was used to intensify the colors.  A number of exposures were taken due to the wide dynamic range present in the image.  The range proved to be more than the camera sensor could handle.  I tried a graduated filter but did not care for the effect.

The images were shot in the RAW format and then converted using the Photoshop CS3 RAW capability.  Two images were combined to encompass the dynamic range.  One was exposed for the Aspen and one for the sky. The two images combined reflected what I saw with my eyes..
